Our private sleep consultations, conducted in person or by telephone, are designed to give you personalized, one-on-one assistance in helping your child sleep soundly and restoring balance and harmony to your family. We offer both full consults for families needing assistance with extensive nighttime and/or daytime sleep problems, and mini-consults for those who have our book, DVD, or audio CDs and have fine-tuning questions about their child's learning.
Each full consultation includes:
- A thorough, round-the-clock assessment of your child's particular sleep problems
- Important educational information about your child's age, developmental stage, and sleep needs
- A customized, step-by-step plan for solving nap and nighttime sleep problems that incorporates your family's needs and preferences
- Optional supportive follow-up, by phone or email, throughout the sleep-training process, to ensure that your plan is working smoothly and to answer any questions that arise
Each mini consultation includes:
- A thorough assessment of your child's particular sleep problems
- Information about any roadblocks that may be affecting your child's progress
- Specific advice on how to fine-tune your child's nighttime sleep, naps, and/or early-morning wakings
- Optional supportive follow-up, by phone or email, throughout the sleep-training process, to ensure that your plan is working smoothly and to answer any questions that arise
Our approach incorporates:
- Our background in child development as clinical psychotherapists
- The most current research on children and sleep, and
- Our experience in having helped thousands of families get great sleep
A few words about our methods:
- We do not believe in letting a child "cry it out" alone. Instead, we help parents find a middle ground between allowing their child to learn how to sleep and offering love and support throughout the process.
- Our approach is designed to minimize crying as much as possible—and to help your child learn how to sleep quickly and easily.
- If you can be very consistent in following our guidelines, your child will likely begin to have much improved sleep in 2 to 4 nights. Naps can take a bit longer, sometimes up to a week.
- Our methods work well whether you are cosleeping or whether your child is sleeping independently.
